An accent lamp is a smaller lamp which serves to softly light a small area. An accent light might be more decorative, where the light is used to illuminate the parts of the lamp. Usually the brightness of the bulb is lower, producing a softer atmosphere. They can work well as a night light and help you to relax in gentle comfort. Place them on a shelf or mantel, in a window, on top of furniture or near the bedside. Beautiful accent lamps also make for a great gift.
Contemporary and innovative, modern lighting underscores futuristic form and structure, and geometric or asymmetrical shapes. A modern lighting design instills functionality within an artfully streamlined form, radiating a reflective glow while providing clear and bright light. Modern Lighting complements a sleek, contemporary interior with straight lines, and can also create an agreeable contrast with transitional styles.
Accent lighting adds a smaller light to one area of a room. An accent lamp is usually of limited brightness and can be used as a night-light. It can add a soft glow to a local area, and can often be placed on a shelf or mantel, in a window or on top of furniture. Accent lights are often decorative.
Since they're fairly small, accent lamps work well in most rooms. Suitable or living/family rooms, dining rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, home office, guest room, basement, even in the kitchen or hallway. Some may be placed on a side table, shelf, mantel or buffet, or even in a window.
Lights a small area, so can be combined with most other lights. Usually sits at a side of the room, or on relatively low furniture. You should add other types of light in the room as well for appropriate lighting.
Portable, sits on any furniture surface via the lamp base. Can be used on side tables, night-stands, buffets, desks etc. Also possibly on shelves, mantels or window sills.
Plug the accent lamp into a regular power outlet socket and switch it on.
I have been looking for the right plug in light solution for several years to brighten all the dark corners in my house. I wont have to vacuum around a floor lamp and I love the diffused light; no hotspots. The dome is a sturdier plastic and the frame is metal, both are better than I expected since this was the cheapest plugin light I have looked at. Most were $100+. About to order 3 more.
The light was as advertised. It was easy enough to install. And with some two-sided tape, the 17' long white cord could easily be concealed in the corner where the two walls meet, and the along top of the baseboard all the way to the electrical outlet. The instructions say not to use a bulb rated higher than 25 watts incandescent. But I find that a 30 watt LED burns cooler than the 25 watt incandescent. My only complaint is the light could be about 20 percent smaller,
it does take up some space. But it also does warm up a dark corner..
