the shades are really nice and well made; they are just the right shade of oatmeal for the lamps I bought and the clip on mechanism is really secure. I will be ordering a larger size of the same shade for another lamp; they came quickly as well and I'm glad they were wrapped in cellophane and well packaged as the delivery service did not put the box in a plastic bag and did not leave it on our covered porch, so it was left in the rain. the box was pretty wet but the shades survived!! you may want to have a chat with your deliverers!

This shade includes a Clip-On Fitter for Regular bulbs
The top of this shade is fitted with a `Clip-On` fitter, designed to clip directly onto a regular round light bulb. The lightweight lamp shade is simply suspended above the bulb by the clip which, through spring tension, grips the bulb gently from both sides. No other harp or fitter is needed. This particular type of clip-on fitter is suited to `old-fashioned` medium-base incandescent light bulbs.Typically a regular clip-on fitter is only suited to small lampshades, usually those found on a chandelier or candelabra, or very small lamps.

Measuring an Empire-Shaped Lamp Shade
Empire shades are typically measured with three dimensions:- Top: The diameter of the circle at the top of the shade - measure straight across.
- Bottom: The diameter of the circle at the bottom of the shade - measure straight across.
- Slant Height: The diagonal height/length measured in a straight line from the top edge of the shade to the bottom edge. Empire shades feature straight sides, sloped at an angle, so measure flat against the side.
