What is a Floor Lamp?
Floor lamps are usually tall standing lamps which stand on the floor. The floor lamp usually has a weighted base to stop it falling over. A tall pole usually extends upwards with a light on top. Depending on the style of the lamp head, the floor lamp might be used as a torchiere for ambient light, or direct light downwards for reading in a chair. Ideally suited next to seating areas or beside a desk. Look also for full-spectrum bulbs for more natural light that's easier on the eyes. This item features an LED light bulb. An LED (light emitting diode) bulb includes multiple small electronic diodes which each emit bright light. Full-Spectrum Lighting
The light bulb in this item features full-spectrum technology. The spectrum of light output is similar to sunlight. White light actually contains multiple color frequencies combined together, and by representing as many frequencies as possible the light is a 'full spectrum' of frequencies. Typically full-spectrum bubs produce very white light which is also natural. The benefit is that it reduces glare and eye-strain, increases contrast for reading, and colors are represented more accurately.

Floor lamps tend to have stronger levels of light, compared to other lamps. They therefore work well behind or beside seating areas, or in the corners of a room. One or two floor lamps in a room can help brighten up a room, or one side of a room. You will need an overhead light or additional lamps for brighter lighting.

We have 3 of these lights in our house. I love it so much, got one for my mom and one for her neighbor!
I have had the lamp for several weeks, using it as a plant light, so it is on for hours every day. So far, it continues to work, and the plant is growing. Reviews I read on similar LED lamps reported that the lamps lasted less than a year. I bought this one, which is more expensive and has a multi-year guarantee, so I will see how it does. The bottom is weighted, which helps to give the lamp stability I found this lamp hard to put together, in that the bottom pipe of the neck must fit into a set of holes on the stand, while keeping the wiring through the pipes, and attached up within that last pipe with a clip on a wire attached to the base. The neck and head are unwieldly and hard to aim to accurately line up the **** holes in the section of pipe with those in the fitting on the base. It is hard to get this all lined up correctly, and the pipe-fit is tight, so once you get them together, I found it impossible to rotate the outer pipe to line the two sets of **** holes up. I could not do this myself, and it took my husband, who is mechanically very capable, and also stronger, quite a while to get the fitting together properly without hurting the wiring. The good news is that the lamp is steady on the base, since the fitting is tight! The touch control for turning the light on and off works easily and well---it takes a very light touch, and it took me a little trial and error to figure that out. I am giving only 4 stars, because of the difficulty in putting the lamp together. I am hopeful that this item will last better than other LED lamps from China, but, of course, time will tell! Unfortunately, it appears that the only LED lamps available are made outside of the USA.

I have had two of the older full spectrum lights shining on my make up table for years. One finally burned out and rather than replace the bulb, I decided to order an entirely new light. It came very quickly and I was amazed at the difference in light. The old ones were good but the new one is at least twice as bright and should last for 5500 hours. I will not be sad when my other one burns out so I can replace it. I LOVE it!!!
