The fixture and shade are great. I actually painted all the metal rubbed bronze and covered the shade with another fabric. You can have the bottom cover or leave it open, which is what I did. I love the way it looks hanging above my dining table. However, and I admit I am an amateur, it was incredibly difficult to hang. There is a little stopper on the aircraft wire (make sure you have good wire cutters for that one!) that uses 3 tiny balls and they fell out several times when I was trying to adjust the length-- they will only allow the wire to move one direction so if you have to move it even a little you have to remove the casing of those 3 little bearings. I finally had to hang it without those because no one can get those tiny balls in the right spot while standing on a ladder working above your head. Also, the screws that hang down to receive the plate cover were too short and I had to get others.
Installed in two bedrooms in our home. One shade arrived dented. Another shade had a smudge on the inside that I haven't figured out how to fix. But, they do look nice in the space, although I think I would prefer a drum lamp that isn't quite so tall. Seems to be a little too large of scale for a bedroom. Provides nice, bright, clean light.
