Outdoor lighting for extreme climates has a weatherproof new stylish alternative to stainless steel and clunky resin. Vivex ™, a new technology and material by Maxim Lighting and ET2 Contemporary Lighting, withstands the wrath of Mother Nature from coastal to desert conditions.

“Typically, harsher climates in the Southwest and coastal areas use stainless steel outdoor lighting fixtures but the material deteriorates over time because of the salt erosion. Vivex sets a new standard with a longer lifespan and more designer-focused fixtures” explains Naomi Sperling, Chief Operations Officer of Maxim Lighting International.

The non-corrosive, UV resistant proprietary finish of each Vivex fixture provides the armor against harsh elements of sun, wind, salt and water. Ideal for moist climates such as waterfront homes and dry conditions, each Vivex fixture comes with a three-year warranty and is tested to last through 300 hours of use.

“The inspiration for the technology came from the paint finishes on boats built to withstand harsh conditions. Maxim Lighting interpreted this marine technology into nuanced finishes with texture, depth and shading to create authentic and highly durable outdoor fixtures,” explains Sperling.

The trade secret to Vivex’s intricate detailing and durability is an injection mold process far superior to die cast and resin molds and a patented material of ground marble powder and latex bonded together with adenosine triphosphate that is twice as strong as resin. “Because resin tends to be a thicker material, it doesn’t produce elaborate design details,” says Sperling.

Vivex fixtures such as the Newbury and Lexington collections with their intricate lacework make stunning focal points flanking the front door or garage.

The Montecito collection also enhances curb appeal with its Mediterranean-inspired designs with ornate detailing finished in an interplay of highlights, shading and texture.

Maxim Lighting artisans hand paint each Vivex outdoor lighting fixture with a dark base coat and sealant that won’t fade and erode to white like other fixtures over time.

“There is no real need to replace Vivex fixtures in five years, the typical time frame for replacement, because they still look good and perform well,” says Sperling.

Hello, Vivex is a material that the actual fixture is made out of. Bulbs are not made out of Vivex. You can certainly use LED bulbs in Vivex outdoor fixtures (as long as they are rated for outdoor use).

I have been looking for an authentic light for the outdoor areas around the house. I would like to learn more about the Vivex bulbs, are they using a led based technology? I would prefer solar powered led bulbs for the harsh weather conditions in our region as they have proven their durability.

Blog - Are these the Finest Wood Lamp Finials Ever Made?

America's best wood lamp finials are handcrafted by Picinae Studios because they specialize in creating infinite design possibilities using the natural characteristics of wood. Their designs highlight the natural beauty of wood, and create an artistic appeal that complements other fine surroundings. Each piece that’s made is numbered and signed, giving it its own identity with its own unique wood color and grains. They are cut free-hand, and highly polished to add depth, clarity and tactile quality.

The woods are selected for their color, grain and natural properties like durability, malleability, hardness and weight. Most of the woods come from local mills in North America, like Maple, Cherry and Black Walnut. Other woods used are Bocote, Morado, Ebonies and Cocobolo.

The trends in bringing back the restoration style of the 50’s are matched by the comeback of light fixture designs of the 60’s. Interior design nowadays just has lots of modern and old-fashioned options to suit most every taste. Retro pendants are making a huge comeback.

Pendant lights are also known as drops or suspenders. These hanging lights can immediately add life to an otherwise boring space. Pendant lights are generally used for their decorative aspects.
