Vivex Outdoor Lighting

Posted on April 23, 2015 by Steve Brielmaier | 2 comments

Vivex lighting for coastal & seaside climates has a weatherproof new stylish alternative to stainless steel and clunky resin. Maxim Vivex™, a new technology, and material by Maxim Lighting and ET2 Contemporary Lighting, withstands the wrath of Mother Nature from coastal to desert conditions.

Maxim Vivex

“Typically, harsher climates in the Southwest and coastal areas use stainless steel outdoor lighting fixtures but the material deteriorates over time because of the salt erosion. Vivex sets a new standard with a longer lifespan and more designer-focused fixtures” explains Naomi Sperling, Chief Operations Officer of Maxim Lighting.

Non-Corrosive & UV Resistant Lighting

The non-corrosive, UV resistant proprietary finish of each Vivex fixture provides the armor against harsh elements of sun, wind, salt and water. Ideal for moist climates such as waterfront homes and dry conditions, each Vivex fixture comes with a three-year warranty and is tested through 300 rigorous hours of use.

Durable Outdoor Fixtures

“The inspiration for the technology came from the paint finishes on boats built to withstand harsh conditions. Maxim Lighting interpreted this marine technology into nuanced finishes with texture, depth and shading to create authentic and highly durable outdoor fixtures,” explains Sperling.

Twice As Strong as Resin Lighting

The trade secret to Vivex’s intricate detailing and durability is an injection mold process far superior to die cast and resin molds and a patented material of ground marble powder and latex bonded together with adenosine triphosphate that is twice as strong as resin. “Because resin tends to be a thicker material, it doesn’t produce elaborate design details,” says Sperling.

Style & Design Outdoor Lighting

Vivex fixtures such as the Newbury and Lexington collections with their intricate lacework make stunning focal points flanking the front door or garage.

The Montecito collection also enhances curb appeal with its Mediterranean-inspired designs with ornate detailing finished in an interplay of highlights, shading and texture.

Maxim Lighting artisans hand paint each Vivex outdoor lighting fixture with a dark base coat and sealant that won’t fade and erode to white like other fixtures over time.

Long Lasting Outdoor Lighting

“There is no real need to replace Vivex fixtures in five years, the typical time frame for replacement, because they still look good and perform well,” says Sperling.

Hello, Vivex is a material that the actual fixture is made out of. Bulbs are not made out of Vivex. You can certainly use LED bulbs in Vivex outdoor fixtures (as long as they are rated for outdoor use).

I have been looking for an authentic light for the outdoor areas around the house. I would like to learn more about the Vivex bulbs, are they using a led based technology? I would prefer solar powered led bulbs for the harsh weather conditions in our region as they have proven their durability.

Blog - Practice What You Pin: DIY Lampshade

Practice What You Pin. As part of this ideology, LampsUSA will be handcrafting DIY lampshades, DIY table lamps, and other DIY lamps.

LampsUSA is a company that is highly active in the Pinterest community. The whole staff loves seeing the innovative and creative lighting ideas/concepts conjured up all over the world.

In a sort of arts and crafts alchemy, Pinterest users have brought to light great repurposing, hacking, and reshaping ideas that have transformed the way the LampsUSA creative team thinks about the company’s products.

The spirit of DIY lamps and DIY lampshades is especially cool.

It’s because of this creative spark that the team has decided to roll up its sleeves and do its best to practice what they pin.

Round One – DIY Lamp Shade Redecoration

LampsUSA offers a colorful array of discount lamp shades for sale. This is not about those shades.

The LampsUSA staff grabbed a handful of economy shades that were simple in both color and shape.

The team used a sharpie and doodled a quick contour map (not to scale) to take advantage of the vintage map paper aesthetics already in place.

The team used a crafter's knife to cut out cloud shapes, then used spray paint to paint shade from black to midnight blue. Using a can of spray on adhesive, the team applied some parchment paper to create translucent white clouds.

For this project, the team created a make-shift paint booth and wore proper protection of course.

Paint issues came up due to lack of expertise, so the team changed gears on the fly and added in some acrylics to cover up the runny spray paint.

So-so results aesthetically speaking – best result was the fun in creating it.
