Rustic Look Barn Lights

Posted on September 23, 2012 by Ed | 0 comments

Many have veered from the traditional and have opted for those will more ingenuity and personality to make an impression and set their homes apart from all the others. One of the lights that is currently gaining popularity is barn lighting.

Barn lights originated in outdoor lighting applications and featured an industrial look and feel. The term barn lighting was used to describe lights that were attached to a garage. Today, barn style light manufacturers have included a variety of designs, finishes, and applications.

The barn lights that are available in the market these days are stunning lights that can complement both the exterior façade of a building. It can also be used as a decoration for porches, patios, and entryways. They also come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles to cater to the design preferences of every homeowner.

Some styles are fashioned like the lights in the 1920s and 1930s, just like the lights that were once used in ocean liners. There are also those that come are shaped just like the traditional oil lamps used in the old farms, complete with a cracked glass and worn out metal finish effect. Then there are those that simulate antique candles with clear seeded glass and old barn finishes.

While barn lighting is distinct with its gooseneck arm extensions, many models today have done away with it and have focused on giving them an antique look. These lights can easily be mounted on wall, on signs, and on other areas. They will also make a good complement with glass globes and wire guards for a more sophisticated look.

Many of the barn lights today are secured inside box or wall back plate with mounting holes to make the installation far easier. And because they are mostly used outdoors, they are mostly coated with durable finishes to provide protection against moisture and heat.

Barn lights can give any home a distinct look that is reminiscent of the atmosphere of old barns and farms. For homeowners who are looking to bring in more character to their backyard fences, outdoor decks, and home interiors, barn lighting would be a great pick. With the array of styles that they are available today, everyone should find a unique and modern masterpiece that will seamlessly fit right into their home.
