I also needed to be more productive with my time at work and I decided I needed to make a change in my life. So with the samples I had in my office of our Speedy Stands I went to a TOTALLY STANDUP DAY.

I did it harder than I should have and went right to standing all day long. I work from 7:30am till 5:00pm. I will be perfectly honest it was way too hard that way. The right way would is to stand an hour or two a day and work gradually up to the full day. Some people may even find that they sit in the mornings and stand in the afternoon. You need to find what works best for you and experiment. The key for me was when I started standing up and using the anti-fatigue mats we sell. I have become a hardcore STAND-UP WORKER!

I was committed to the idea and it has worked wonders for me. I have more energy and I have seen my work output increase (I have also lost a couple of pounds). The big revelation for me was when I went to the yearly lighting show in Dallas Texas a few weeks ago. It is a ton of walking and meetings from sun up till sundown. I arrived into Dallas really late and only had a few hours of sleep. To my surprise I was energized and ready to go early in the morning. I went full tilt all day and at 6:00pm I was still going strong. I thought that was odd, but I went with it and got to bed early.

The next morning I woke up bright and early and went to the show and I had another high energy day. I did this for the next three days. By the final day I am usually dragging from all the walking and all the meetings, but I was surprisingly full of energy. Some of the people I met with had noticed I had lost a little weight and they asked about my energy level. I told them about the benefits of standing up at work and I think I may have a few of them trying the STAND-UP WORK STYLE soon.

It has made a big change in my life and I know it would be easier to just sit down and work. But the benefits are so impressive that I will never go back.

There are usually two common reasons that prompt people to go for a remodelling job: one, they don’t like the way things look, and two, the layout of the place is no longer efficient. You might be surprised how much a simple change of lighting or bright bursts of color can usually fix whatever is wrong with the look of a room. This year, kitchens and bathrooms are two common living spaces that are getting a lot of remodels. Trends show that under- cabinet lighting is becoming popular, as most kitchens contain several overhead cabinets that might cause some problems with lighting. Appliances are slowly disappearing from plain view, as individuals choose a tidier, more minimalist view of the kitchen area. Maple seems to be the color for kitchen remodels this year, with appliances retaining the popular sleek, stainless black. Bathroom remodels, on the other hand, are introducing “his and her vanities”—the answer to the age-old inconvenience of guys having to sort through endless rows of skin creams and lotions, and girls digging through men’s shaving cream and colognes. Products of these trends are aimed at commercial and residential customers. Light fixtures now offer compact designs as well as added features, made more attractive by lower prices. Circles and ovals are presently dominating the lighting scene as strong design elements, while Oil Rub Bronze retains its spot as a dominant metal color. However, companies are testing the waters with lighter finishes on their pieces, but so far these haven’t spiked any solid trends. On the other hand, copper finishes are on the rise.

One “back-to- the-future” trend is Old Fashioned Bulbs, which show up in many newly designed items this year. Also many companies are introducing Retro Pendants, featuring a restoration style for today’s modern home. In addition, chandeliers are taking on a more sparkly feel—with crystal emerging as a trending accent— and are popping up in several lighting lines. Many companies are also shifting to laser cut metal in most of their designs.
